Responsive Design and Google's Mobile-Friendly Update

Getting your website found in the mobile age

At Schweb, one of our biggest commitments to our clients has always been creating websites with responsive design in mind. But Google’s mobile-friendly algorithm update, which went into effect on April 21, makes the responsive approach more critical than ever.

What is MailChimp?

MailChimp is a great tool for creating, designing, sending, and tracking email newsletters (see reference for more information).  Whether you are a small or large company, MailChimp can make it very easy for you to organize and keep track of your mailing lists.  Here are just a few of the many things MailChimp can help you with...

US Government warns: "Stop using Microsoft's IE browser until bug is fixed."

"In a rare move that highlights the severity of the security hole in one of the Web's most popular browsers, the US government security team is telling people to stop using Internet Explorer until Microsoft can fix things."

Internet Explorer is currently unsafe to use.

Likely soon Microsoft will release updates to fix this issue, but they haven't yet.
Until then, here's what we recommend:

Important Facts on the Recent Heartbleed Security Flaw

Important Facts on the Recent Heartbleed Security Flaw

By now you've probably heard about the Heartbleed security vulnerability.

If you haven't, here are a few important facts to know:

  1. This week, the Heartbleed bug was detected in recent versions of the most popular SSL/TLS encryption implementation (OpenSSL).  It affected the majority of websites and services on the internet (about 2/3), including our server as well.
  2. We took immediate steps to patch the potential vulnerability in our website & email hosting server and Schweb Design is no longer vulnerable. For more information check out
  3. This is not a vulnerability with our server's SSL or your sites' SSL/TLS or Schweb Design.  Your site is & was not broken, nor are any digital certificates for your domain.
  4. We have secured the server and fix this bug:
    1. We have fixed this vulnerability on our server and verified/tested.
    2. We've regenerated all server SSL keys, CSRs, and certificates including yours if you have an SSL certificate on your website (e.g. receive credit card payments).  As a side-effect, you might notice Outlook or your mail client temporarily complain about a new certificate (this should go away shortly after changes propagate).
    3. We've changed all server administrator passwords including all clients' hosting account passwords.  If you'd like your new cPanel hosting account password, just drop us a line and we'll let you know what it is!
  5. This has affected all of us, including you.  We have no evidence of any malicious behavior, but we strongly encourage you to please follow our final steps you can take below.

So you've secured the web & email server, now what do I need to do?

In a Nutshell:

The main things you need to set are:

  • Be sure to enter your entire email address as your username and your password for BOTH incoming and outgoing setup.
  • Incoming/outgoing mail servers are both "" if using SSL or "" if NOT using SSL.  if you want to use SSL you MUST use for the mail server.
  • The correct port number for incoming & outgoing (refer to the "Manual Settings" information).
  • Be sure to set that your outgoing mail 'requires authentication.'  This is usually referred to 'password' under "Authenticaion" on the iPhone, iPad, etc.
